I really like this blog post, very short and to the point. I agree that there really is no magic in sales. Yes you have to be a people person, but more than that you have to have the drive and the persistence and dedication to not stop no matter how nasty the rejections can be.
I laugh at the books and blogs where the so called sales 'experts' act like there is a method to the madness of sales. You know the old "to close the sale you must...." blah blah blah. I love sales for one reason. No one day is ever the same.
I worked in factories when I was younger and the main thing it taught me in addition to the importance of education is that I love the unknown. I have no idea what somebody is going to say to me when they pick up that phone, and that is where the FUN is!

To add to this, that leap of faith you speak of is what made this country what it is today, and while failure is a huge fear, what we do when we face that fear head on is what makes us who we are.
I have met both sides, and in my experience those folks that take the leap of faith tend to be happier than those that do not, who go on living the 9 to 5, and in the process wasting much of their lives complaining about what could have been.
I really enjoy your blogs Michael.

Thanks for your comments! But I actually don't disagree with you. I think you're absolutely right - you should hold tight to your dreams, stand tall and face your problems. I didn't mean to dissuade anyone from following their dreams. I don't think you should let a recession beat you down. The opposite actually - my point was that the recession might be a blessing because it teaches us what's really important and what to focus on. But you can't necessarily learn that from a book or from following someone else's dream - you have to follow your own and learn that for yourself. You have to earn success.

I don't agree with you. Though, I can relate to what you say about the recession and how tough it can get on someone. Yes, it can beat you down and make you think of the impossible BUT this is where you pick yourself up, stand tall and face your problems. I did this and it worked - My advise to YOU who is reading this blog is to continue to chase your dream, that idea/thought which keeps lingering in your mind. Let it keep playing over and over again and that will get your adrenaline to automatically work and push the right energies within you forward. Before you know it, you have already reached Level 1 and guess what... you're getting forward and moving to the next level. Somebody now tells you about the recession and the economy and how tough it is...you smile it away and brush past that statement. Be nice and tell him/her what I told you.

About being Donald Trump, Bill Gates and Richard Branson... tell me what is your name, I'll put it down after these guys. Remember, you will only get as far as you think you can - Keep dreaming and make it tangible. Go out there and tell the world who you are. God Bless!
