What I’ve Learned

After more than 20 years of business experience and the successful startup of several small businesses, I’ve learned a few things about business and being an entrepreneur:

1. Work Smarter, Work Harder
The day you stop working on your business is the day you start going out of business. In today’s competitive marketplace, success requires more than just a great product or service. As an entrepreneur, you need to make things happen and get things done.

2. Business is Personal
While other business consultants and executive leadership coaches may have trademarked plans and processes, I find that every business and every business owner is different. We all have different goals, different circumstances, different needs. There is no one method or process that works for everyone. You have to figure out what is important to your business and what works for you.

3. You Don’t Have to Be Perfect
You just have to do a lot of little things perfectly. Running a successful business is about consistently meeting expectations – bringing all the pieces of the puzzle together so they fit into one coherent big picture.

Most of us are great at working in our business – performing the technical tasks of keeping our clients and customers happy. But working on our business – that’s a different story. That’s where many entrepreneurs need a fresh set of eyes and and an extra pair of hands.

4. Last But Not Least, You Have to Take Care of Yourself
Success takes strength and stamina – both mental and physical. Having a clear mind allows you to focus on making sound decisions. Being physically fit means you can step up to every challenge, every day.
